1. Current license
P2LRN's own components are distributed under P2LRN Non-Commercial Source License 1.0 (P2LRN-NCSL 1.0), unless a component indicates another license.
Authors can sell their own courses. Academies and institutions can use official Studio and Analytics without modification, even if they charge for training. Player and Toolkit have additional commercial permissions. Modifying Studio or Analytics, or incorporating them into commercial platforms and services offered to third parties, requires express authorization.
Permissions per component
Create, distribute, and sell courses and implement supported readers and writers without requesting permission.
Educational and business use, integration, modification and commercial redistribution with applicable notices and source obligations.
Free to use within institutions, even with paid courses, as long as they remain unchanged. Requires permission to modify or incorporate into commercial services for third parties.
2. Legal text and notices
Always review the full license text and third-party notices before redistributing or integrating P2LRN.
3. Corresponding source code
When the license requires providing the corresponding source code for a distribution, P2LRN publishes it along with the resources for that version so that it can be consulted and reconstructed.
4. Official packages
Official P2LRN packages and downloads include the license and notices that apply to each component. Please retain those notices in any redistribution you make.
5. Third party software
Third-party components maintain their own licenses. Documented components include Three.js (MIT), Rapier 3D compat (Apache-2.0), and h5p-standalone (MIT). The H5P corpus maintains the licenses for its components and is not relicensed under P2LRN-NCSL 1.0.
6. User Content
Courses, documents, data, media and other original user content are not transferred to the licensor because they were created, converted, packaged or reproduced using P2LRN.
